Chapter 1: The Things They Never Saw

 The Deshpande sadan, honestly, you’d think they were running some kind of military camp with the way everyone snapped awake at 6:30, no matter what. Neel Deshpande, the self-appointed milkman monitor, started his daily complaints before the sun even cleared its throat. “Late again, what’s even the point?” he’d mutter, like the world might collapse if the milk showed up at 6:40 instead of 6:30. Bhavya, meanwhile, seemed convinced detergent was liquid gold. Every morning, another episode: “This maid, I swear, she pours out half the packet for one bucket. Are we washing clothes for the whole building or what?”
