Chapter 7: After the Bell

Man, the rest of that day just dragged, like, time actually slowed down just to mess with her. Classes? Might as well have been background noise in an old movie. The teacher’s voice faded out, chalk squeaked on the board, and Avyukta just… checked out. Her brain wasn’t in that classroom; it was stuck on repeat, rewatching her own embarrassing explosion from earlier. Ugh, she couldn’t hit stop. It kept playing, worse every time.

And every time Aayansh’s face flashed in her mind, his eyes all worried, like he wanted to help but had no clue how, her stomach twisted up. God, she hated that. Hated that he saw her like that, all red-eyed and shaking. Usually, she could fake being “fine” like a pro. Smile, joke, keep it light, nobody saw the cracks. Not today. Today, her mask just fell off and shattered in front of him. The worst.
